A licensed mental health therapist and coach!

Still Have Questions?

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

A therapist needs to be licensed in each state in order to do therapy. That is not the case for coaches. The focus of a  mental health counselor is on observing and diagnosing pathology, addressing past trauma, treating addiction, adjustment, mood, personality, behavior and learning disorders, identifying and resolving family systems issues. Coaching tends to be more goal-oriented and does not include treatment of mental health disorders.

Can I work with you if I don’t live in Florida?

Therapists can provide services in the state in which they’re licensed. I am currently licensed in the state of Florida. However, I’m also a coach which allows me to provide services that are not considered to be therapeutic in nature to anyone regardless of their location.

Do you take insurance?

I currently accept the following insurances in the state of Florida. United Healthcare , Cigna, Aetna, All Savers (UHC), Harvard Pilgrim, Oscar, Oxford, United Healthcare Shared Services, UHC Student Resources, UMR, Allied Benefit Systems, Meritain, Nippon. I do not accept Employee Assistance Programs (EAPS) at this time.

What if you don’t take my insurance?

In some cases you may be eligible to use out-of-network insurance benefits. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at time of appointment. When appropriate, I will provide a super bill each month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Call your insurance company to inquire about out-of-network benefits. If you do, they often reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session.

What are your therapy rates?

My rates are $125 for a 50 minute individual therapy session. TIR rates vary according to time spent.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hour notice for all cancellations. If a session is canceled within less than 24 hour notice a charge for the full session fee will be applied to your credit card on file unless it’s a documented emergency

How Long is a Session?

A typical therapy session is 53 minutes. However, in the case of a Traumatic Incident Reduction session a 2-3 hour timeframe is recommended.

do you uprovide online/telehealth therapy?

I am presently offering in-person and virtual therapy sessions.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Short answer; YES. Long answer: Our therapy sessions remain confidential with a few exceptions. If you report  active thoughts of suicide or self harm or thoughts and intent to harm others; under HIPAA law, I am mandated to make a  report for your safety and the general public. To protect and preserve the therapeutic relationship, I will disclose to you before a report of any kind is made.

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is very individualized and client specific, and the therapeutic process varies from person to person.

During our first session we will talk about your presenting concerns that bring you to therapy.
We’ll explore your current symptoms and stressors which will give me a deeper understanding of what you are looking for.

During this first session we will explore what you would like to process in therapy, and what it would look like if therapy was working

What is Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)?

TIR is a rapid (compared to traditional therapy) method of effectively reducing traumatic stress from emotionally and/or physically painful events in the past. It involves re-experiencing past traumas in a completely safe environment, free of distractions, judgments, or interpretations.

How often should I attend therapy?

How often you attend therapy depends on the severity or complexity of your presenting concerns. It is typically recommended that one attends a session weekly for the first two months. We will continue to discuss and monitor progress to decide if any changes in frequency need to be made.
